Yan Zhang is Professor of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Leader of the Artificial Intelligence Research Group (AIRG) at Western Sydney University. Professor Zhang is also a landscape photographer, and Science and Art play significant roles in Zhang’s life.
The Australia-China Institute for Arts and Culture are currently exhibiting Zhang’s photography Chasing the Mountain Light. The exhibition displays 13 mountain landscape images that Zhang has captured in recent years. These photographs illustrate the pure beauty of mountains: from the Great Wall to Yosemite, Patagonia and to the Southern Alps.
In the workshop, Zhang will share his stories about being a Professor of AI as well as a landscape photographer. He will reflect on his extensive and sometimes extreme mountaineering activities. His art captures the most exhilarating yet rarely seen landscapes.
