Ceilings in Medicine + Council 3

Ever feel like a part of your identity limits you from experiencing medicine to the fullest? Ever feel that there are barriers in your journey through medicine? If yes to any of these questions, then our newest WSMS event, ‘Ceilings in Medicine’, is the evening for you. If no to any of these questions, this event is also definitely for you!

‘Ceilings in Medicine’ will aim to provide you with personal insights around barriers that exist within the medical workplace, and methods to go around combating and advocating for them. This year we are steering the discussion away from specific demographics within medicine, to a broader general discussion around the various ‘ceilings’ that exist within medicine. The event will entail a panel discussion with representatives from various minority demographics that exist within medicine including that of women, LGBTQIA+, Indigenous and CALD/international backgrounds. The event will also aim to provide opportunities for students to seek mentorship opportunities and form networks of support within the medical arena.

The evening will commence with some constitution and policy change presentations from the WSMS executive team (which are linked below), followed by the commencement of ‘Ceilings in Medicine’. A scrumptious dinner will follow! ♥

Please look through our constitutional amendments and policies that are up for review, and suggest any changes or comments:
