Student Representative Candidate Statement: Alexandra Woods

by | Oct 15, 2026 | Campus News

I am Alexandra Woods, a law student, mum, grandmother and Indigenous student running independently for SRC President. Like many students, I balance university with responsibilities beyond the classroom. That is why student advocacy is at the heart of my campaign.

I want students to feel confident raising concerns and to know where they can find appropriate support. If elected, I will advocate for fair processes, accessible learning, wellbeing support and clear communication about the SRC’s decisions and progress.

Student equity matters across age, disability, cultural background, financialcircumstances and access to technology. Representation needs to reach older students, carers and students who cannot regularly attend campus activities. Printed information and opportunities to speak in person matter alongside online engagement.

I will work to create one student-led social network that links digital spaces and in-person connections across campuses. Shared information and opportunities should reach students through both, allowing participation without requiring technology. I also value plurality: different experiences and viewpoints should help shape our priorities, with respectful discussion and room for disagreement. Indigenous inclusion is central to my campaign. I will advocate for culturally safe participation and meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to influence decisions affecting them.

As an independent candidate, I will bring my own judgement and a willingness to collaborate. I want student concerns to lead to practical advocacy, with honest communication about what can be achieved and where further work is needed.

Real students. Real issues. Real change.

Vote Alexandra Woods – Independent for SRC President. Student number: 19884745
