Power has been restored at the Parramatta South campus after the earlier outage. Classes will be on tomorrow as per normal
UPDATE:
An all student email has been sent by Matthew Dakin, the University’s Director, Campus Safety & Security.
“The decision has been made to close the Parramatta (South) campus for the evening due to a complete power outage. This is affecting all landline phones, the computer network, lighting and security systems. There will be no classes at Parramatta (South) campus this evening. This does not affect Parramatta City campus at 169 Macquarie Street, where classes will be on as usual.”

Ashwant Prasad from the University’s Capital Works and Facilities has told W’SUP that the university has been told by power provider Endeavor Energy that this is an “area wide blackout, affecting all of the Rydalmere campus, and the Rydalmere suburb”.

Security staff have evacuated students from EA, saying that the campus is officially closed. When prompted as to when the campus is expected to reopen, the response was “how long is a piece of string”.

Parramatta South campus has been left without electricity following an electrical storm. The power went off around 4PM on Wednesday.
Emergency lights have been activated across campus, however W’SUP believes that the generator may only have limited capacity.
Students have been evacuated from the Whitlam Library. Security staff have been seen checking lifts for occupants, however it is believed that no-one is trapped.
Students who are not currently on campus are advised to avoid the area.
