Join Bankstown Writers’ Group

Join the Bankstown Writers’ Group on Mondays and receive feedback from award-winning writers Fiona Wright and Luke Carman. All students are welcome to bring their writing – creative writing, essays, articles – to room 1.1.112 on Mondays in August, September and October (during session). Come along from Midday to 1pm.

About the Writers:

Fiona Wright – 

Fiona Wright’s debut collection of poetry, Knuckled, was awarded the Dame Mary Gilmore Prize. She is an editor, critic and writer and her book of essays, Small Acts of Disappearance, was published in 2015. Her poetry and essays have appeared in Meanjin, Overland, The Lifted Brow, Seizure and HEAT and her criticism has been published in the Australian and the Sydney Review of Books. Fiona is currently completing a DCA at the Writing and Society Research Centre, WSU.

Luke Carman –

Luke Carman was named a Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Novelist in 2014. In 2015 he was awarded the NSW Premier’s New Writing Award for his book An Elegant Young Man. Luke has also been shortlisted for the Readings New Writing Prize and the ALS Gold Medal. Luke has recently submitted his Doctor of Creative Arts.
