Enrolling in your course can feel complicated. This guide provides information on activating your account, accepting offers, registering for subjects and more. If you need assistance with your enrolment, please call Western Sydney University on 1300 668 370.
Activate Your Account with Western Sydney University
To activate your Western account, you will need your student number. This is an 8-digit number and can be found in your offer email.
Your student email will be [yourstudentnumber]@student.westernsydney.edu.au.
You will be required to make a password. Don’t tell your password to anyone!
As per Western’s protocol, you must change your password every 90 days. You will be notified via email when this is required, and you will have a specified period to change it before your account is deactivated.
Activate your account here.
After you have activated the account, you will have to wait at least 30 minutes before accepting your offer. If you move on before this time, you will receive an error message. Don’t panic! This short delay is a necessary security process that helps ensure your account is set up correctly and functions smoothly.
If your account remains locked after the 30-minute wait, please don’t hesitate to contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.
Contact the IT Service Desk via:
- MyIT Portal: http://myit.westernsydney.edu.au (includes Live Chat)
- Phone: (02) 9852 5111
Please use this link to continue the enrolment process after the 30-minute delay: westernsydney.edu.au/enrol
Accept Your Offer
Accept your offer here.
This will initiate the enrolment process. You must fill in your personal details and complete the student surveys and forms. You will then complete the fee section. You may be eligible for a HECS-HELP loan on all or part of your uni fees. See more about fees here.
Once you have accepted your offer, you will have access to My Student Records (MySR). MySR is your online portal to manage your student records. You can update personal details, adjust enrolment before the census date, view course enrolment, access results, and view your Statement of Account. International students adjusting their enrolment before the census date should contact the International Admissions team for assistance at apply@westernsydney.edu.au
Important note for offers with deadlines: you must have registered in at least one subject before you are considered enrolled.
Register Your Subjects
If you are commencing as a first-year student, you can confirm the guided subject registration plan for your program.
If you are commencing with credit from prior studies, you can manually register subjects. You can learn how to do that here.
You may need to manually register subjects if you are studying fewer than four subjects, or if your program includes elective spaces, minors, or majors. Always contact your Academic Program Advisor for more information about which subjects to register in if you are unsure. Registering in the wrong subjects at the wrong time can affect your progression and completion of the program. You can find your Academic Program Advisor’s contact details by searching your program name in the Handbook and scrolling through the ‘Overview’ tab.
The Handbook can be found here. It will provide details on your program, the structure and subjects. It is recommended that all students bookmark this link for future subject registrations and course information.
In 2025, Autumn timetable preferences are open from the 20th of January to the 13th of February, 10 AM. You can choose your class times and check important timetable dates through the Allocate+ portal here. You can update your timetable preferences here. Note: this is not a first-come-first-serve system, and you can only access the Allocate+ portal for subjects you have registered in. Enrolment changes made in My Student Records may take up to two hours to appear in the Allocate+ timetable system.
Get Started
You can view a ‘Before You Start’ checklist here.
Your MyWestern student portal can be found here. It is recommended you bookmark the link and download the app on your mobile device. Through your MyWestern portal, you can check your emails, view your timetable, access news and events, locate the shuttle bus service, view clubs, and more.
You will need a student ID card. For this, you must submit another form of photo ID, as well as a photo for the card. This photo must be recent, unfiltered and unobscured. Your student ID is important for accessing certain parts of campus, printing, exams and more. Get your student ID card here.
If you need to read information and policies about your student email, see here.
It is expected that you check your emails regularly, especially in semester. If you set up auto-forwarding to your personal account, ensure SPAM/Junk filters do not affect these emails.
Travelling To And From Campus
Each campus presents different travel options. To see what modes of transport can be used to access each campus, see here.
All students travelling to and from campus have access to the uni shuttle buses. These buses run on a continuous loop from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm on weekdays. This means one is never far away from your stop, however there is no specific timetable to base your movements on. You can track the shuttle bus in real-time using the Shuttle Tracker. It is recommended that you allow an extra 15-30 minutes in case of delays. However, waiting and travel times vary between campuses and times of the day. The shuttle bus service does not run for small periods within the holiday breaks. Please ensure to confirm routes and other shuttle bus details specific to your campus here.
If you are a full-time student (enrolled in at least 25 credit points), you can apply for a Concession Opal card. You will need your student ID card before you apply. Once your application is confirmed, your Opal Card will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days. You can apply for your Concession Opal card here. If you want to check your eligibility or have accessibility needs, view this page here.
When using a Concession Opal Card on public transport, Transport NSW employees are entitled to ask to see your student ID. You should always carry both cards together when travelling to uni.
If you are driving to campus, it is important you follow parking policies. Campus parking areas are restricted, which means you must display parking permits visibly on the front windscreen of your vehicle and ensure you park in the correct parking bay. Parking bays are assigned by colour, and you must only park in bays your permit allows you to. You will not be excused in cases of limited space, time constraints or poor weather conditions. If you are in violation of these policies, you may be subject to a fine. Access the University Parking and Traffic Policy here, and the Parking webpage here.
Welcome Week
Attend Welcome Week events to gain a better understanding of uni life, tour the vibrant campuses, and get a head-start in meeting people in similar fields of study.
In 2025, Welcome Week is on Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th of February, 10am – 4pm at the Parramatta South Campus. See more details about orientation and Welcome Week here.
