I’m Kirk Gomes and I’m running to be one of the NUS delegates representing the University at the NUS national conference. I am a 2nd year law student who has a disability which makes my vocal cords and soft palate paralysed, making my voice unclear.
I am running to be a delegate for the NUS because I believe in the importance of having a diverse range of voices when it comes to representing our university on the national level.
I am running along with the REVIVE team, which has had some accomplishments over the years including a 3 day automatic extension for assessments and a standardised 11:59pm deadline across all subjects.
As well as working a retail job, I am one of the disability officers in the Disability Collective. My experience as an officer has been eye opening, as I have listened to the harrowing experiences of students with a disability. I am determined to bring positive changes so students with a disability can be treated as regular students.
Students who vote for REVIVE will be ensuring that life on WSU campuses will be alive again with pubs back and more active student clubs.
