No, I’m not talking about your closest friends, I am talking about one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, Friends.

Friends was first showcased to the world 25 years ago. The famous sitcom that featured 10 seasons of pure comedy, started in 1994 and ran for 10 years. Throughout those years, the show provided a bunch of laughs as well as some touching emotional moments. Each one of the main characters taught us something different. Whether it was Rachel showing her determination or Joey showing us all how to have fun, each one of our favourite friends gave us something different to think about.

Friends has now been off the air for 15 years however, the show is finding new fans on a daily basis. Different generations are coming across the show and falling in love with everything about it. Another aspect that helps to keep Friends alive is the new merchandise that is being released. Whether its items of clothing, kitchenware or the pop vinyl collectibles, fans of the beloved show are buying all these kinds of products.

The popularity of the tv show is also seen through streaming services such as Netflix. It was recently reported that Netflix paid $80 million to keep the show throughout 2019. As well as being featured on Netflix, the hit tv series is constantly featured on various channels. Currently, the show is being featured on 9Go and is in the midst of its first season. Furthermore, the reruns seen on our tv’s today earn each one of our favourite friends $20 million per year.

While Friends is still booming to this very day, the popularity of the show back when it was on air is another reason for the success and constant viewing of the show today. Per episode, Friends had an average of 23 million viewers tuning in. Also, Friends was listed as the sixth most-watched finale ever with a total of 52.5 million viewers.

So, whether you’re laughing or crying your way through every episode and each season, Friends will never die. It will forever remain not only one of the most popular sitcoms of all time but one of the most popular tv shows of all time.
